Remote Senior Aviation Maintenance Inspector — Multimodal & Technical Practice

Partner with SMR Talent Collective from anywhere in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ, or Ireland as a remote Remote Senior Aviation Maintenance Inspector — Multimodal & Technical Practice ($70 - $130/hour). This specialist role focuses on evaluating AI model outputs, authoring domain-specific rubrics, and validating technical workflows involving FAA A&P Maintenance & Inspection, Borescope Engine Inspection, Aircraft Maintenance Manual & IPC Reading, Composite Structure Inspection.

Project Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and annotate aircraft maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs (IPC), and related technical documents.
• Evaluate and critique borescope engine inspection data, identifying anomalies and recommending corrective actions based on FAA standards.
• Assess composite structure inspection processes and outcomes, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Interpret approach plates and flight operations briefing materials, providing detailed feedback on navigational and operational accuracy.
• Deliver comprehensive written and verbal insights on maintenance and inspection procedures to inform AI model development.
• Cross-reference maintenance tasks with FAA Parts 43, 121, 135, and 145 to ensure compliance and accurate process representation.
• Contribute subject matter expertise to refine and validate data sets used for AI training in aviation contexts.

Required Expertise

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance, inspection, and regulatory compliance.
• Expertise with borescope engine inspection and interpretation of resulting imagery and reports.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting maintenance manuals, IPCs, and approach plates.
• Thorough working knowledge of FAA Parts 43, 121, 135, and 145 regulations and real-world application.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities, with a strong attention to detail.
• Experience as a check airman or in training/mentoring roles within aviation maintenance settings is a plus.
• Compensation Band: $70 - $130/hour
