Telecommute Medical Coder (100% Remote Contract)

Partner with SMR Talent Collective from anywhere in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ, or Ireland as a remote Telecommute Medical Coder (100% Remote Contract) ($20 - $32/hour). This specialist role focuses on evaluating AI model outputs, authoring domain-specific rubrics, and validating technical workflows involving CPT, ICD-10, AAPC Certification, Outpatient Coding.

Project Responsibilities

• Apply outpatient-specific coding conventions, including diagnosis coding guidelines for outpatient services, modifier usage, medical necessity, and linking diagnoses to procedures.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders via written and verbal communication to clarify requirements and resolve ambiguities in clinical documentation.
• Provide high-quality feedback on coding guidelines and edge cases to improve project workflows and model understanding.
• Demonstrated professional or academic background in CPT, ICD-10, AAPC Certification, Outpatient Coding, HCPCS.
• Strong analytical reasoning and ability to articulate complex concepts clearly in written English.
• High attention to detail when reviewing technical or domain-specific documentation.
• Self-motivated and reliable within an asynchronous remote work environment.

Required Expertise

• Hands-on experience coding in outpatient settings (e.g., primary care, specialty clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, outpatient hospital departments).
• Practical background using diverse clinical documentation types and associated coding challenges, such as office visit notes, procedure notes, and operative reports.
• Proficiency with both written and verbal communication, with a strong attention to clarity and detail.
• Access to up-to-date official ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding books, as well as E&M guidelines.
• Compensation Band: $20 - $32/hour
