Telecommute Manufacturing Design Engineer (FreeCAD) — Distributed Talent Network

Partner with SMR Talent Collective from anywhere in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ, or Ireland as a remote Telecommute Manufacturing Design Engineer (FreeCAD) — Distributed Talent Network ($40 - $100/hour). This specialist role focuses on evaluating AI model outputs, authoring domain-specific rubrics, and validating technical workflows involving FreeCAD, Parametric CAD modeling, Mechanical Design, 3D CAD Modeling.

Project Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive engineering drawings, including GD&T and tolerance stack-ups, suitable for manufacturing handoff.
• Design for a variety of manufacturing processes, such as sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
• Perform CAD validation and quality assurance reviews to ensure model accuracy and readiness for production use.
• Prepare clear, concise technical documentation and assembly instructions as reference materials for AI model training.
• Incorporate feedback from technical reviewers to revise and improve CAD models and supporting documents.
• Demonstrated professional or academic background in FreeCAD, Parametric CAD modeling, Mechanical Design, 3D CAD Modeling, Assembly Design, Engineering Drawings.
• Strong analytical reasoning and ability to articulate complex concepts clearly in written English.

Required Expertise

• Hands-on exposure to sheet metal, CNC, plastics, and injection molding design considerations.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) best practices.
• Proven ability to produce production-grade CAD models and validate them against real-world manufacturability criteria.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, ensuring clarity in documentation and collaborative exchanges.
• Compensation Band: $40 - $100/hour
• Work Location: Remote (100% Remote / Asynchronous Flexibility)
